So if someone else kills your target before you, you don’t get any points... Damn it.
And now I’m stuck here because that guy with that beam rifle is no doubt still looking here, waiting for me to get out of cover.
I looked around to try and see if there was a way out of here until another Exo-Knight started running towards me with their gun raised.
Guess there were definitely a number of people who have already figured out how to pilot their Exo-Knights... But what’s with all of them running straight to their targets?
I sidestepped to avoid the kinetic rounds being fired at me right before a beam was shot from the same direction to shatter its shield.
The pilot seemed surprised that they were attacked from an unseen enemy as well and skidded to a stop.
I saw that as my chance.
The sniper would definitely be aiming to finish this guy off which gave me the chance to reposition out from their line of sight.
Sure enough, as I scrambled away from behind that building, another laser beam fired out and pierced through my attacker in the chest, eliminating him.
Meanwhile, I managed to run deeper into the ruined city and out of the supposed sniper’s location.
Seriously, why does that guy start with a beam rifle? Are the weapons you spawn with randomised too? This is so unfair...
That means if I want some other weapons than what I have now, I probably will have to get myself killed to respawn with another one...
Yeah, I’m not gonna do that... Since there’s no guarantee that I will get a better weapon anyway.
I might as well just take the weapons off their Exo-Knights after I kill them instead if they have a weapon I want.
I continued on my hunt to look for more targets.
Things were starting to heat up now as several other people figured out how to control the Exo-Knights so there were actually plenty of fights happening all around the map.
You could even see the plumes of black smoke wafting up into the air from all the recently destroyed Exo-Knights.
I followed the sounds of battle, fully intending to third party any fight I come across.
Sorry, but the goal is to get as many points as possible within the time limit so I will be using every trick I know to get as many kills as possible.
I mean... I’m already killing targets that literally don’t know how to control their Exo-Knights before this so intruding on a fight shouldn’t even be worse than that.
The fight I found was a three way battle between three different Exo-Knights.
Incidentally, all three of them were using a different weapon as well, so I believe that we really were being spawned in with different weapons.
One of them had a shotgun, the second one had an energy blaster and the last guy had the same autocannon as I do.
Doesn’t really matter right now since I’m going to take them by surprise anyway.
The three of them were just running in between buildings and using them as cover while shooting at one another, all of them currently in a stalemate because of that.
I cleared that stalemate by rushing at one of those guys from behind with my energy blade, stabbing through the Exo-Knight’s chest from behind.
I then kicked him out of his cover, the machine tumbling carelessly onto the ground as a heap of scrap metal before it burst into flames and started emitting smoke.
The two remaining Exo-Knights thought the other opponent killed him and tried to rush at the other one to catch them off guard, only to run into each other doing the exact same thing.
They started firing at each other while moving back into cover.
In the meantime, I tried to pick up the gun that the Exo-Knight I just killed dropped on the ground to try and dual wield them but... When I tried to pick up the weapon, my Exo-Knight automatically put the other weapon down to pick the other one up.
What? No, no, no. Pick it up with your other hand!
I tried to reach out with the other hand of the Exo-Knight but the moment I picked up the other gun, the Exo-Knight would put down the gun I was already holding no matter how I tried to stop it.
Why is it... Ah... I forgot that this was still a simulation and it wasn’t real... So this was basically operating on game logic.
Tch... Still... What year is this? What kind of game still doesn’t allow you to dual wield guns? This is literally unplayable!
Ahem...
Discarding my attempt at trying to dual wield, I started shooting at one of the enemies hiding behind a building, the pilot having been so fixated on his opponent that he didn’t even realise I was there.
Incidentally, he was the one with the beam rifle and he fumbled with it to try and shoot back at me, missing the first few shots because of his panic.
I broke his shield first and the next few autocannon rounds blasted him back before blowing him up, toppling him over onto the ground.
My shield then materialised again as pellets from the other Exo-Knight’s shotgun pelted against it.
I watched as my shield percentage barely decreased since that pilot was trying to use his shotgun as a long range weapon which severely dropped the damage it could dish out.
That guy must have also realised his mistake as he started running towards me in a bid to close in on me so I emptied the rest of my clip on him as he got closer.
Unfortunately, it turns out that I didn’t have enough bullets as his shield managed to tank all that and he blasted me with another shot that shattered my shield.
He must be thinking that he had me right where he wanted but I quickly switched to the energy blade and took a step to get past his guard, shoving his shotgun barrel aside with the back of my palm.
His next shot went wide and struck the building instead of me, the pilot clearly not expecting me to be able to deal with him at close range.
I shoved the blade into the Exo-Knight’s torso and twisted it before I shoved him back.
The Exo-Knight stumbled a step back before it exploded from the chest, letting out another plume of black smoke.
Looking up at the corner of my screen, I saw my points jump up by another thirty.
Nice.
I reloaded my autocannon and tried to find the next tar--
I felt a tingling sensation coming from my shoulder and I immediately ducked to the side behind another building.
Right on time too because several shots passed through where I had been earlier.
I spun around to see another Exo-Knight just a short distance behind me holding what looked like two autocannons in their hands and pointing them at me.
What?! Why can they dual wield?! This is unfair!!
Oh wait, those autocannons look smaller in size... Probably instead of being a rifle, those are like submachine guns or something? So those are allowed to be dual wielded while the rifle variants are not.
I returned fire at the new enemy and they responded with surprising agility by diving to the side and rolling behind another building.
Wait... You can roll? How the heck do you do that? I’ve only just been sidestepping and running around so far!
I retreated away while using the buildings as cover since my shields were down and I was at disadvantage in this engagement.
Even while I was looking for cover, more gunshots rang out though these came from the side and exploded against the buildings I was running through.
There were even some explosions mixed in which suggested someone was using some kind of explosive weapon.
Seriously, why do those guys get the OP weapons?!
I’m also guessing that these people thought the same as I did and came here because of the three plumes of smoke, thinking they can just take on whoever that was left after the fight since they would be weakened.
Too bad for them, they encountered each other and since it’s a free for all, they started fighting each other as well.
I also fired a few rounds in their direction, hoping to score a few hits on some of those opponents to get them running for cover.
One such guy wasn’t having any of that though as he charged directly at me like he was possessed or something.
He had the same energy blade as me in his hand and no doubt he was trying to take me out with close combat.
I decided to humour him since I didn’t have enough distance to gun him down with my autocannon and prepared my energy blade as well.
Just as he was one building’s length away from me, the Exo-Knight with the dual submachine autocannons smashed into his side and emptied their rounds into the chest of that Exo-Knight, blasting their chest open and defeating them.
They then lifted the other gun in their hands to shoot in my direction and I only just barely managed to run behind another building for cover.
Holy shit, some of these pilots are crazy!
