Chapter 303: Chapter 303:Another Temporal Storage?
Ivy’s eyes brightened, like thousands of stars scattered across the midnight sky appeared in her eyes.
New special feature!
Sigh! How she wished to enter her temporal storage and check out the new feature right away!
’It’s alright! Once I return to the base... I would have enough time to check out the feature.’
Suddenly, she was reminded of the gift by Ronak and excitedly turned toward Silas, "Did you see what Ronak has given you?"
"Eh? Yeah. It’s a necklace. You should keep it. It’s in the side pocket of the bag." Silas explained gently.
Ivy beamed with a smile and was about to open the bag when Silas suddenly leaned toward her ear and whispered, "Of course, you have to pay."
With that, he brazenly bit Ivy’s earlobes, making her flush from her neck to her cheeks.
Worried about her brothers, Ivy shot a glance in Felix and Kael’s direction, who were busy looking for any obvious sign of mutated birds, and heaved a sigh of relief.
She glared at Silas and slapped him on the thighs before finding the velvet box.
The soft furs of the velvet box made Ivy caress it. With little to no effort, Ivy opened the box with a ’pop.’
A familiar necklace with a gold chain and a green centerpiece appeared in Ivy’s vision, and her breathing hitched.
"What the heck!" She murmured under her breath, shock flashing in her eyes.
Silas, who was expecting Ivy to be thrilled, was taken aback by her reaction and asked tentatively, "What happened? Don’t like it?"
"No!" Ivy’s eyes were bright yet filled with concern. "This necklace is exactly the same as the one I own! I awakened my temporal storage once I dripped my blood on the necklace."
Silas smiled gently. "Maybe this one has a temporal storage too. Why not drop your blood or try to merge it with your existing one?"
"No!" Ivy declined resolutely, "You should take this!"
"Ivy, I don’t need a temporal storage. Don’t I have you..." Silas began; however, Ivy cut him off midway, "Be good and do as I say!"
Silas stared at Ivy’s pink eyes filled with expectation, his heart melted, and helplessness surged in his heart.
Who can resist such a cute expression from Ivy?
Definitely not him!
Silas sighed softly, the corner of his lips tugging upward in reluctant surrender.
"Alright, alright... I’ll listen." His voice dipped into that low, indulgent tone only Ivy could draw out of him.
Ivy carefully placed the necklace and closed the box. Now was not the time to contract it.
Felix’s voice suddenly cut through the stillness, jolting both of them.
"Oi! You two done whispering over there?" His tone was suspiciously flat.
Kael didn’t even look back, but his voice floated lazily after.
"Silas, if you’re taking advantage of Ivy again, we can always bury you under the next mutated anthill we find."
Silas, completely shameless, rested his chin on his hand and smiled at them. "Oh, but I am. What to do?"
A serious glint flashed in the stern man’s eyes, as if he was considering whether to just throw Silas out of the helicopter.
Ivy immediately intervened and said with a gentle smile, "Brother, he is joking. We were just flirting."
Kael and Felix: "..." Sigh! What to do? Their sister was supporting the enemy!
The journey lasted for another 18 hours before they arrived back in their own country.
The heatwaves, visible even to the naked eye, made goosebumps spread all over their body.
Mike murmured in a dazed voice, "Don’t tell me... extreme heat is going to arrive now."
Though he was a pilot before the apocalypse, his niece was an author and constantly asked him about the different cultures in the country just to portray them in her novels.
From her, he understood the conditions, like zombies and natural disasters.
Now... he only felt as if... the god was testing their survival skills while turning on the extreme hard mode.
Suddenly, he thought of Ivy’s skill and proposed, "Miss Ivy? Are you interested in joining me? With how well we synchronize, we can take rich clients and escort them to their destination. I am ready to share 50% of the profit with you!"
Ivy gave a polite smile. "The offer is tempting; however, I would decline. Also, if possible, don’t do such a dangerous job. Going forward... the temperature might reach the point that the helicopter’s engine might burn up."
Mike didn’t dare to take Ivy’s words lightly? Along the way, they engaged in small talk, and Ivy’s useful insight spoke volumes about her abundant knowledge.
There were also his own instincts that haunted Mike and told him repeatedly that... the years that are about to come would be extremely worse for travelling.
He seriously considered Ivy’s words while the quartet left, waving their hands and thanking him.
When a heatwave struck him, his skin started to burn as if someone had rubbed chili on his entire body. He rushed toward a shaded area and frowned, "Strange... I didn’t feel this heated before... what’s going on?"
His expression turned grim when he started to sweat buckets within just a few minutes.
It seemed... Ivy’s words needed to be taken seriously.
However... if he didn’t take this job... how will he be able to survive in this apocalypse?
A conflicted expression appeared on Mike’s face, and the sound of the zombie’s roar broke his daze.
..........................
Meanwhile, Ivy, Silas, Felix, and Kael soon reached the Silvy base.
The moment Felix and Kael read the name of the base, they had an inkling that it belonged to either Ivy or Silas.
Sure enough, the next second, their sister flashed them a smile and asked, "Do you know who owns this base?"
Felix grinned and played along, "Who?"
"Me." Ivy’s bright smile made the trio’s hearts melt. Hey, their sister/wife was truly like a warm sunlight that everyone feels attracted to.
However, the next second a stunned voice broke the warm and harmonious scene: "Ivy?"
