"Lee?!"
"Were you running from me, perchance?"
She quickly shook her head, trying to deny it. Her tail was dancing uncontrollably behind her, and her ears were standing upright, ready to get pet, so that meant she was happy to see me at least.
"S-Sylvie saw a squirrel! Sylvie was just chasing it when Lee grabbed her." She averted her eyes as she spoke. She could never look me in the eyes when she lied.
"Does that mean you’re not happy to see me? Are you still mad about what happened before?"
"No. Sylvie not mad. Sylvie sorry. Umm..."
I couldn’t fault her for having desires about having babies, since it’s normal for werewolves and she trusted me enough to tell me even though she was embarrassed by it.
"Hop onto my back. I’ll carry you."
"Eh?"
"Don’t you want to?"
She looked a bit confused, but she nodded her head and climbed onto my back. Her breathing seemed heavy. She hugged her arms around my neck as I carried her on my back. Carrying her on my back was just insurance so she didn’t run off again.
"So," I suddenly said as I walked with her. "Tell me more about your wish about having babies."
"Hmm... Does Lee really want to know?"
"I do."
I couldn’t see her face, but I somehow knew she was smiling.
"What does Lee want to know?" She asked.
"Since when have you been having these feelings?"
"It was when Lee took Sylvie hunting for the first time."
"Really? That far back? That was when we first met."
"It’s all Lee’s fault!" She pouted. "When Lee touches Sylvie’s head it makes Sylvie feel all fuzzy inside. And then strange thoughts come inside Sylvie’s mind."
"So it’s my fault?"
"Yep! Lee pets Sylvie’s head and tail and doesn’t want to make babies with Sylvie. It’s not fair!"
"Uh huh, so you are angry with me."
"Hmph! Just a little bit."
"I see. But now I’m curious, how many babies were you planning on having?"
She didn’t even waste a second in responding.
"As many as Sylvie’s tummy can hold."
"You’re being unreasonable again. Your answer tells me you’re not thinking logically about this."
"No! Sylvie is thinking. Sylvie wants as many babies as her tummy can hold, and after that she wants more!"
"Kids aren’t easy to take care of, and I’m not sure you can even handle one. It’s a bigger responsibility than you think."
"Sylvie knows that’s why Sylvie asked Aunt Lisa."
"What?! You talked to my mother! What kind of ideas has she been putting in your head?"
"Aunt Lisa says that Sylvie can have as many babies as Sylvie wants, and if Lee refuses, then Sylvie should just do it herself."
"Do it yourself? What’s that supposed to mean?"
"Aunt Lisa gave Sylvie a gift that would make Lee sleep a lot."
"You can’t be serious. That’s it, you’re banned from ever speaking with my mother ever again. I won’t let her corrupt your head with her perversion."
"No, Sylvie likes talking with Aunt Lisa. She teaches Sylvie a lot of things. She tells Sylvie stories about Lee. And she shows Sylvie pictures of when Lee was little."
"That’s more reason for you not to spend time with her."
I wonder what kind of strange ideas my mother has been putting inside her head.
"Sylvie wants to be a mother like Aunt Lisa. But only if the babies belong to Lee and Sylvie. Sylvie understands how important it is. That’s why Sylvie asked Aunt Lisa for advice. Sylvie knows that it is dangerous because of monsters and people that want to hurt Lee’s pack, but Sylvie is sure that Lee can protect her."
I said nothing and continued to walk with her on my back in silence. The power of the full moon bathing us in its power. Both of us enjoyed the power of the full moon as we walked through the night.
"Wait, Lee?! Where are you taking Sylvie?" Sylvie suddenly asked.
"I want to see your new hideout."
Suddenly, her heartbeat quickened.
"No! Sylvie doesn’t want Lee to see it."
Is she hiding something? In that case, then I have no choice but to go see.
With Sylvie squirming on top of my back and trying to cover my eyes every chance she got, I went to see this hideout of hers. Just like the last one, it was a small cave. The moment I stepped in, I realized why she didn’t want me there.
"Is that my blanket? And those are some of my clothes. What are they doing here? Are you using them to sleep on?"
Sylvie didn’t say anything, blushed uncontrollably with her face lowered. Seeing how embarrassed she was, I decided to ignore what I saw and instead left her hideout.
"Let’s go to the river instead," I suggested.
Sylvie nodded, and with that, I brought her to the river. On the way, she didn’t mutter a word, only continued to bury her reddened face into my back.
Seeing how embarrassed she was, I decided to use the same technique I used on Isabella to cheer her up.
"You know, I also use your clothes to comfort myself when you’re away."
"Really?" Her eyes brightened.
"Of course. Smelling it makes it feel like you’re lying right next to me, so it’s alright if you do the same with my clothes and belongings."
A beautiful smile appeared on her face.
"This makes Sylvie happy."
"I’m glad it does."
Material things didn’t matter as much, so I didn’t really care. Seeing her happy was more important.
"Lee?"
"Hmm?"
"Why are we just walking around? It’s nice and all but still strange. is Lee bothered by something?"
"I guess I’m just postponing again."
"Postponing?" Sylvie tilted her head, looking a bit confused by my response.
"I’m postponing my response. I told you I would give you an answer when I returned, didn’t I? I’ve thought about your questions for the last few weeks, and I think I’ve come up with an answer for you. It took me a while. I kept jumping back and forth between different answers. I thought about every possibility of what the future could look like..."
Just then, we arrived at the river. The sparkling water reflected the beautiful light of the full moon perfectly.
"I was torn between logic and emotions. And in the end, I told the logic part of my brain to keep quiet while I gave in to what I really wanted."
"What is Lee trying to say?"
"The answer is yes, Sylvie. Let’s build a pack together."
