After Selthia left her alpha, that very same day in the office and went to meet her sister. It took her a week to get to where her sister was located. The two had communicated that they would meet up with each other, but weeks passed and Selthia didn’t see any sign of her sister. She finally realized what happened when the two met up.
To Selthia’s bewilderment, her sister Aqua, a beautiful siren with orange-colored hair, was still on the beach where she made landfall. Selthia couldn’t help but sigh when she saw the sight of her sister standing up, then taking one or two steps, then falling over again.
It seemed her sister hadn’t quite figured out how to walk, causing her to take a total of 13 steps over the past weeks. Still, Selthia felt a bit happy. This was the perfect chance for her to flaunt her superiority.
"Having trouble walking, Aqua?" She chuckled as she walked towards her sister, who was now flapping around on her stomach like a fish even though she had legs. When Aqua saw her sister’s teasing smile, she became overcome by rage.
"This is all your fault! And you dare have the gall to laugh. I’m telling Mother about this!"
Selthia scoffed at her sister’s threat. Once upon a time, she would’ve been terrified if someone threatened her with her mother. But now that she was under the protection of her darling, she didn’t care.
"Go ahead. I no longer fear that old octopus. I have my darling now."
Aqua frowned as she felt bile rise in her stomach from a disgusting thought that crossed her mind.
"Wait, don’t tell me you’ve put yourself with a human, have you?" Aqua asked, suppressing the urge to throw up if the wrong answer came out of her sister’s mouth.
Unlike her sisters, Aqua found the thought of being with any man, whether human or merman, disgusting.
"No, my darling is not a human. He’s a werewolf."
Aqua didn’t know what a werewolf was, but she still felt the urge to vomit.
"We’ve even kissed," Selthia bragged with a smug look on her face. "And we plan to do a lot more in the future."
"Stop. Please stop," Aqua covered her mouth and clutched her stomach. Since she’s been on this beach, several monsters attacked her. She killed and ate all of them. But due to her sister’s talks of kissing, she felt as if everything she had eaten was on the verge of erupting from her stomach.
"What’s the matter, Aqua? You can’t handle grown-up talk?"
"I’m telling Mother! She’ll get angry that you called her an octopus and that you’re kissing a human."
Selthia’s smile twitched when her sister once again called her darling a human. She felt like strangling her right then and there but was barely containing herself.
"Come home, Selthia," Aqua pleaded. "I know things get a little heated when we compete for Mother’s attention, but we’re still family."
"I don’t need that old hag’s attention. I have my darling! He’ll give me all the attention I need."
"You just have to come back," Aqua pleaded again. "Mother has been talking crazy again. She’s been talking about coming here and eating all the humans."
"That hag is gonna leave her hole?" Selthia asked, looking confused. She knew her mother and thought it impossible. All her mother ever did was command her and her siblings to feed her. The five sisters competed to see who could bring back the largest prey.
Looking back, she realized how foolish they all were. But now she had someone who promised to feed her and carry her on hunts. His words still hung in her heart. That faithful promise that he would feed her even if it was by giving her his own heart.
That was the first time anyone had ever said something so beautiful to her, and just the memories of this were strong enough for her to disobey her overbearing mother.
"You remember what happened the last time our Mother came up here to the human world? She sank three human cities," Aqua said, feeling a chill rise up her spine just from how scary her mother was.
If she ever told her mother that Selthia called her a hag and an octopus or kissed a human, she shuddered to think what would happen.
"Selthia, please, you have to come back home. Leave the human or the werewolf you’re with. Mother will surely kill him too if she finds out."
"Kill... My darling..." Selthia felt as if her emotions were going to explode out of her as she heard those words. Her beautiful blue eyes began to turn murderous with an orange glow.
"I’ll have to kill her first."
Looking at how crazy her sister looked, Aqua couldn’t help but be reminded of her mother. The two of them seemed so similar to each other at that very moment.
"What about the succession?" Aqua asked. "You remember, don’t you? On our 21st birthday, one of us will be chosen as the ruler of Atlantis. That’s only a year away from now! If you don’t return by then, it will only fuel Mother’s anger, and she will surely come here."
"I don’t care about becoming the ruler of Atlantis anymore. She can choose one of you for all I care. All I want to do is stay with my darling. And if my mother ever comes here, I’ll rip out her heart and have my darling feed it to me."
It didn’t matter if she was eating her own mother’s heart. The thought of being fed by her darling made her entire body shudder in pleasure causing a deep red blush appeared on her face. She desperately wanted to go back home to him. These last few weeks, nothing she ate satisfied her. No matter how powerful of a creature the heart belonged to, she couldn’t seem to enjoy it if it wasn’t being fed to her by her darling.
"You sound like Ariel when she talks about food," Aqua said.
Ariel was one of their sisters.
When she heard this, Selthia’s smile disappeared completely.
"Take that back! I’m nothing like that bitch! Anyway, I’ve said what I’ve wanted to say. I’m not coming back. The four of you can continue being slaves to Mother. Goodbye, sister, this is the last time we’ll ever see each other."
With that, Selthia turned on her heels and left her sister still struggling in the sand.
