Li Run anxiously asked Mrs. Zhang about Li Huairu’s condition, failing to notice the strange expressions on Wen Wan and Lin Xiaoyue’s faces.

Wen Wan sat down, gently touching Li Huairu’s forehead, while Mrs. Zhang glared at her warily.

Li Run was also on high alert; he resented the two women for failing to manage the children, causing his sister’s injury, yet feared they belonged to powerful families who might easily brush off today’s incident, leaving him deeply conflicted.

"The doctor said the injury is serious, she might not wake up soon."

As if afraid Wen Wan and Lin Xiaoyue wouldn’t hear, Mrs. Zhang raised her voice.

Li Run’s face looked grim, his eyebrows furrowed deeply, "You’ve heard it too, my sister is seriously injured. How do you intend to explain this?"

Lin Xiaoyue was about to speak when Wen Wan raised her hand to stop her, "You take Amuer to treat the wound first, leave the rest to me."

"Wen Wan..." Lin Xiaoyue’s voice carried a hint of remorse.

Wen Wan turned to look at her, signaling, "Go ahead, I don’t blame you."

"I’ll come back to find you later." Lin Xiaoyue said, pulling Amuer with her left hand and holding Ah Nuan with her right, leaving the room to find the doctor at the front hall.

Jinbao watched them leave before walking over to Wen Wan’s side, sneering, "Amuer didn’t do it on purpose; it’s that person who insisted on interfering."

Li Run was infuriated, "Even if it was interference, my sister is now severely injured and unconscious because of you. Common saying goes debts must be paid, murders avenged. Regardless of who you are, do you think one phrase of interference can dismiss us?"

Jinbao was fuming, their fight had nothing to do with others, it was her interference that led to this, who could she blame?

"Jinbao, shut up!" Wen Wan snapped softly, and the little one hung her head, not daring to speak further.

Wen Wan glanced at the person on the bed, lowered her voice, "I understand your feelings right now, but arguing like this won’t help your sister recover. Why not calm down and wait for this girl to wake up before discussing further?"

Li Run held a bundle of anger in his heart, unable to vent, his expression worsening.

The room fell into silence, Wen Wan contemplated for a moment before asking Li Run, "Have you sent someone to call your family’s adults?"

The Kangding Bo couple had gone out of town for a relative’s banquet and wouldn’t return tonight, so there were no adults at home now.

But Li Run did not wish to admit this to Wen Wan, saying, "Ruru is my sister, as her brother, I can manage her affairs."

Wen Wan laughed upon hearing, "You seem only twelve or thirteen, how can you manage such a big issue?"

"If I say I can manage it, then I can." Li Run snorted coldly.

Seeing his wariness, Wen Wan remarked, "I mean no ill intent, just that the child is gravely injured, even if you seek explanation, there are matters I can’t discuss clearly with a child. It must be your family’s adults that we meet."

Li Run stubbornly refused to mention the adults’ matters, "My parents weren’t present at the scene and are unaware of the situation’s details; why should they intervene? Whatever you need to say, speak to me."

Wen Wan sighed softly, "I suggest that, since this child’s injury involves children from both our families, why not let her recover at our house? Until she improves, I will return her to you. Otherwise, you can report to the government office, how about it?"

Li Run was puzzled, "Why should she recover at your house?"

"See, I told you it’s hard to explain to a child." Wen Wan replied, "Go fetch your family’s adults, let me speak with them."

Li Run stood still.

While they were at an impasse, Lin Xiaoyue had returned after taking the children for bandaging at the front hall.

Wen Wan heard the commotion, turned to check, asking her how the situation was.

Lin Xiaoyue sighed with relief, "Luckily no skin was broken, otherwise this little one would be disfigured."

Wen Wan beckoned to Amuer, "Little one, come over for Aunt Wan to check how bad the injury is?"

Amuer stepped back half a pace, eyes wide with caution despite his young age.

Seeing his reluctance, Wen Wan didn’t force him, turning her gaze to Ah Nuan.

Ah Nuan was no longer crying but her nose was bright red, and Wen Wan tenderly pulled her over, asking, "Does it still hurt?"

Pointing to the small bun on her head.

Ah Nuan nodded tearfully.

When the boy pulled her bun, she felt as if her scalp would tear off, the pain left her unable to even cry.

"Those few troublesome little ones are the problem; wait till we get home, Aunt Wan will make sure to scold them for you, alright?"

Wen Wan was simply comforting Ah Nuan as the kids involved in the fight had long run off upon seeing someone injured, now not a trace could be found.

Ah Nuan looked at Jinbao.

She saw her brother being bullied, it was Jinbao [older brother] who first acted, only later did Amuer join in, shifting the focus to Amuer.

Retracting her gaze, Ah Nuan said, "Aunt Wan, Jinbao brother protected me today."

Her voice was gentle and soft, melting to the bone.

Jinbao snorted hearing this, "Who protected you, I only thought those bratty kids were annoying."

Ah Nuan suddenly giggled, "Then you were protecting me."

Jinbao shifted aside, wordless, trying to keep distance.

Li Run witnessed the small episode, his face cold and silent.

Lin Xiaoyue sat next to Wen Wan, softly asking her, "How is the talk going?"

Wen Wan subtly shook her head, whispering back, "No deal, this little one is very stubborn. I’ve asked him to fetch the adults, but he refuses. I even offered to take this girl to our home for healing, find the best doctor, and he still refuses."

Lin Xiaoyue said, "This is a great opportunity you can’t miss; otherwise, once they take her home, getting your niece back will be even harder."

Wen Wan was also contemplating, casting a suspicious glance at Li Run, asking Lin Xiaoyue, "Do you think he might already know who I am?"

"Not likely, right?" Lin Xiaoyue hesitated, "From his demeanor, he probably doesn’t know you. Otherwise, if he knew you were the girl’s third aunt, he wouldn’t be arguing here, demanding explanations, and threatening to report to officials. He’d have escaped with them long ago."

Wen Wan thought so too.

Lin Xiaoyue suddenly had a thought, "Wen Wan, you see the child was injured on the head; could it be possible that this injury helps her recall things?"

"If she can truly remember, I’d welcome it," Wen Wan sighed, "I just fear it might worsen her condition or bring unexpected complications."

They sat in the clinic for a long time, Li Huairu still showed no sign of awakening.

The sky was turning dark.

Lin Xiaoyue worried about Su Qing returning and not finding anyone, suggesting, "Little brother, considering your sister might not wake up soon, why not let us help take her back to the mansion, alright?"

Li Run’s gaze fell on Li Huairu’s face, the little girl was weak and pale, clear signs of excessive blood loss.

Though more mature than peers, he was still young, feeling anxious in such matters, especially with no parents at home.

Mrs. Zhang, accompanying Li Huairu, said, "Young Master, it’s getting late. We should quickly take Miss Five back to the mansion; otherwise, as it gets colder at night, she might catch cold. Already gravely injured, a fever would be disastrous."

Li Run reluctantly nodded.

Li Huairu, gravely injured, couldn’t be moved easily, even if she had to be, several hands were needed. Li Run wanted to assist but hesitated seeing so many women present.

Wen Wan didn’t want Sanyang to return to the Li family so easily, saying, "This place is too far from Kangding Bo Mansion, yet closer to our home. I suggest we take her to our house for an overnight rest and decide tomorrow morning. Prince Li, what do you think?"

Li Run paused, eyes narrowing, "You know my identity?"

Wen Wan chuckled, "They called you ’Young Master,’ I guessed."

Li Run’s face was complex, "After all this time, may I ask which mansion you two ladies are from?"

With his question, he felt anxious as the Li family, despite its noble title, was merely a hollow shell. Encountering a genuinely influential family meant today’s incident could end in a mute loss.
